Dewey Bozella made a successful professional debut at the of 52 at the Staples Center in Los Ageles on Saturday night by out-pointing Larry Hopkins over four rounds.
Bozilla made a slow start but he gradually grew in confidence and started throwing more punches. Hopkins had a point deducted in the fourth round after his mouthpiece fell out for the third time.
All three judges scored the bout 39-36, 38-36, and 38-37 in favor of Bozella.
At welterweight Nick Casal stopped previously-unbeaten Michael Anderson in the third round of a scheduled eight round bout. Anderson was floored twice before the fight was stopped after 2.51.
In a junior middleweight bout Freddy Hernandez won a tough 10 round unanimous decision over former world champ Luis Collazo. Hernandez was busier in the first two rounds, but Collazo was able to get going in the next two rounds, scoring with combinations to the head and body.
All three judges scored the bout 96-93, all for Hernandez.
