WBC International Silver heavyweight champion Manuel Charr moved a step closer to the world heavyweight title at the Martim Hotel in Cologne, Germany on Friday night when he defeated Taras Bidenko via 12 round unanimous decision.
Bidenko started the contest at a fast pace, looking to unsettle Charr but most of the shots were blocked as Charr stayed cool and focused under the pressure. At the end of the first round Charr made his presence felt when he caught Bidenko with a couple of hard shots. The same pattern continued in the second session, Bidenko was working hard to rack up the points but Charr unloaded with some heavy body shots to slow Bidenko down.
Charr upped the pace in the third round and started unloading more heavy shots, to slowly break down his opponent.
Much of the same happened in the following rounds. Charr moved forward and landed the cleaner, harder and more accurate punches whilst Bidenko continued to try and nick points with the jab.
At the end of 12 rounds Charr’s heavy handed tactics paid off as all three judges made him the winner by scores of 116-111 in an entertaining battle..
Charr improves to 21-0-(11), Bidenko falls to 28-5.
