Lightweight prospect Abner Cotto, 12-0-(10), became the Puerto Rican national champion on Friday night by winning a 10 round unanimous decision over Fernando Torres,17-3-1-(10), at the Centro de Convenciones in Guayama, Puerto Rico.
Cotto floored Torres in rounds five and 10 on his way to a 98-90, 98-90 and 97-91 win.
The card was promoted by Universal Promotions.
