By Ron Valderrama: Professional Boxing returns to the Madison in Phoenix Oct. 21st (Friday) when Sonoran Capital Group in association with Face II Face Events host FRIDAY NIGHT FIGHTS III.
Face II Face Events President, Michelle Rosado said she has an exciting line-up for the night of boxing. The main event pits Valley favorite Emilio " Milo Time" Colon-Garcia (Super Bantamweight) with a record of 3-0-1, 1 KO taking on Leonardo Sanchez.
Garcia continues to improve his ring skills despite changing trainers and the fact that the gym (KO Gym) he trained at was destroyed by a monsoon storm, both incidents not by his choice. His new trainer Andrews Soto trained Emilio before and this time around has only made him better, not to mention the new KO Gym is better than before.
20 yr old Garcia has never complained about the recent changes and won this reporter’s heart as he continues to do various charity events around the valley. His father, Danny Garcia has instilled great values in him such as sacrifice, determination, working hard, and the fact that his love of the sport and his family seem to be the drive for him.
The co-main event features Victor “El Nino” Castro (Lightweight) vs TBD with a record of 3-0, 2 KO’s, Castro is a ring smart fighter who has good movement and defense. His ability to read his opponent is his strong point. With only three fights under his belt, Castro has quickly become a crowd favorite.
Light Welterweights- Abel Ramos vs Ruben Gonzales. Ramos was the 2010 State and Regional Champion, 2010 USA Boxing State and Regional Champion, USA Boxing National Bronze Medalist, and USA vs Puerto Rico International Duel Champion.
Welterweights- Ritchie Guerrero vs Saul Benitez
Super Bantamweights- Marcos Diaz vs. Luis Rangel
Featherweights- Jesse Ruiz vs TBD
Welterweights- Joe Martell vs TBD
Welterweights- Julio Rodas vs Jorge Galindo
As a bonus Rosado has added two top amateur bouts. The first fight features the much anticipated rematch of the 2011 Fight of the AZ Golden Gloves, Roderick Flores vs Freddie Cintora. The second amateur fight will feature the first ever GIRL BOUT for Face II Face Events and will showcase Sulem Ubrina vs TBD. Urbina trains at the KO Gym in Phoenix and has been boxing for over 4 years and has an amateur record of 25-5.
This will be the last show of the year for Rosado’s Face II Face Events and most certainly ends on a high note. Rosado landed Don Julio Tequila and Ciroc Vodka as two of her latest sponsors. Face II Face Events will also feature shows in Tucson for next year. It’s been a banner year for Rosado, just last weekend she hosted the Mayweather-Ortiz Official Fight Party at the Tilted Kilt in downtown Phoenix. Close to 500 people attended the event and the Fire Marshall had to cut off the crowd as the Kilt reached its capacity. It was a great marketing move on her part. They also showed the Battle At BlueWater II fight on Fox Sports, and the Alvarez- Gomez fight from the Staples Center in Los Angeles to the delight of the crowd. It was reported that the Tilted Kilt opened the blinds so fans who were turned away could watch the fights from the sidewalk.
