Hudaynazarov And Ahmedov Win In Las Vegas

By Jason Pribila, Ringside: A pair of unbeaten prospects from Uzbekistan, light heavyweight Gayrat Ahmedov and junior middleweight Rayshan Hudaynazarov, made their United States debut on Friday Night at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas. Each ended their bouts in eerily similar fashion.

Ahmedov wasted little time making an impression on the fight fans in attendance as he walked through Harley Kilfian in 1:05 of the opening round. Ahmedov stalked Kilfian from the opening bell, moving forward behind a high guard. After a clumsy grappling move sent Kilfian to the floor, Ahmedov got his legs planted to deliver the bout’s lethal blow. A perfectly placed left hook to the kidney sent Kilfian to the canvas in a heap. Referee Kenny Bayless waved off the bout without having to count to ten. Ahmedov improves to 13-0-1, with 9 KOs.

Hudaynazarov (10-0, 7 KOs), a 2007 World Military Games Gold Medalist, has been training in North Carolina with trainer Don Turner. He showed a little more patience than his fellow countryman, while also displaying the same commitment to working the body of his opponent, Scott Ball.
Hudaynazarov worked well behind his left jab. After hurting Ball to the body, he soon found openings upstairs. By the end of the second round, Ball had the look of a guy in survival mode.

During the third round, Hudaynazarov mixed in two punch combos to the head and body with each hand. Finally, a thudding left hook to the body sent Ball to the canvas following a delayed reaction. Referee Robert Byrd waved off the bout at the 1:25 mark of the round.
