South African boxer Nkosinathi Joyi impressively retained his IBF minimumweight title at the Orient Theatre in East London, South Africa on Friday night.
The 29year-old unbeaten champion boxed his way to a clear 117-110,116-111 and 116-111 decision against the game but outgunned Japanese challenge Katsunari Takayama. Joyi used all his physical advantages to good advantage to secure his second title defence.
Joyi improves to 22-0-(15), Takayama falls to 24-5-(10).
On the undercard South African featherweight champ Sabelo Jubatha won on a 10 round unanimous decision win over Wonga Ntoyakhe. Jubatha improves his record to 14-1-(10), Ntoyakhe falls to 5-6-(1).
