Klitschko Vs Valuev Is Deal Dead, Could Face Solis

According to German newspaper Bild, the negotiations for Vitali Klitschko to defend his WBC heavyweight crown against Nikolay Valuev is ‘dead’.

The co promoters for Valuev, Wilfried Sauerland and Don King were in talks for the 7ft Russian to challenge Klitschko but negotiations stalled when Team Valuev demanded $4 million, $2 million more than Klitschko was prepared to pay. Team Klitschko had originally offered $1 million.

Talking to Bild Klitschko’s manager Bernd Bonte said; “Promoter [Don] King is crazy. His demands for Valuev are not acceptable.”

With the Valuev fight now a non starter Klitschko could face unbeaten former Olympic Gold Medalist Odlanier Solis, 15-0-(11), next. However, before the WBC No.2 from Cuba can even think about facing Vitali Klitschko for the heavyweight title, Solis must first take care of business against American Carl Davis Drumond on March 20.
