Lennox Lewis could come back for the right price - $100m

Former undisputed Heavyweight champion and hall of famer, Lennox Lewis has shockingly stated that he is considering coming out of retirement to face recognised world number 1, Wladimir Klitschko.

However, he would only do so if he were paid a world record breaking $100m. Whilst that fee sounds unrealistic, Lewis confirmed that he has already received an offer from the Klitschko’s for $50m to make the fight.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, the former Olympic Gold medallist said;

"That is my price tag and it is under discussion," he continued "I have told them I can be ready in six months and I am in provisional training.

"I said at the time that it will take $50m to get me out of my pyjamas but now I have to consider the value of my legacy of having retired as undisputed champion. That will cost them $100m."

Lewis was last seen in a ring defeating Wladimir’s older brother, Vitali, in June 2003. It was a fight arranged at short notice when Lewis’s proposed opponent Kirk Johnson pulled out of the contest just two weeks before citing a torn pectoral muscle. Klitschko Sr, who was scheduled to fight as part of a double bill against Cedric Boswell put himself forward as a replacement and the fight was made. Interesting it was on regular HBO, not pay per view.

Although the champion had been preparing to face a southpaw he managed to get the victory over Vitali in an exciting battle that saw both men land heavy shots, with the Ukrainian seemingly staggering Lewis on more than one occasion. However a large cut caused by a punch opened over the challengers eye and the fight was stopped after the 6th round.

Lewis then retired from the sport and has always maintained that he would stay retired until these recent revelations.
