Margarito wins even if he loses

Antonio Margarito will benefit even if he loses when he steps up in weight to challenge WBO junior-middleweight champion Daniel Santos on September 11. Should Margarito lose his title shot at 154lbs he will still keep his WBO welterweight title.

Kermit Cintron and Teddy Reid are scheduled to fight for the WBO interim welterweight title on July 17. If Margarito beats Santos then the winner of Reid vs Cintron will automatically become full champion, but If Margarito were to lose then he would defend the 147lbs crown against the interim champ.

July 3, 2004.
