Former junior middleweight boxer Epifanio Mendoza, 33-12-(28), scored a magnificent third round knockout win over the previously unbeaten Carlos Negrón, 13-1-(9), at the Coliseo Ruben Rodriguez in Bayamon, Puerto Rico on Friday night.

Mendoza hurt the much bigger Negron badly at the end of the second round and continued to pummel him in the third round, flooring Negron again before knocking him out after 2:03.

At age 35 and having lost eight of his last 11 fights Mendoza was not expected to be give Negron too much trouble.
