Juan Carlos Salgado (24-1-1, 16 KOs) scored a controversial 12 round unanimous decision win over Argenis Méndez (18-2, 9 KOs) to claim the vacant IBF super-featherweight crown at the UAG Gym in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico on Saturday .
Méndez floored Salgado in the 12th round, but could not find the final punch to finish the job. The scores were 115-110, 114-112 and 114-112.
In an IBF female light flyweight title fight Katia Gutiérrez (15-3, 3 KOs) retained her title with a 10 round unanimous decision against Olga Julio (9-11-1, 5 KOs). The scores were 100-90, 98-92 and 100-90.
