Australian light middleweight champion Tyrone Tongia (17-2,9KOs) retained his title for the second when he stopped James “The Goondiwindi Gun” Giltrow (12-3,7KOs) at the Mansfield Tavern in Brisbane, Queesnland, Australia on Friday night.
Tongia looked good and controled the bout right up to the eighth round when he floored Giltrow with two well placed body shots, forcing the referee to stop the bout after 2:07.
On the undercard Omar Shaick (9-2,6KOs) outscored Josh Clenshaw (24-20,14KOs) over 10 rounds to claim the vacant Australian super middleweight title.
Shaick hurt Clenshaw in round five with a combination punches. Round eight saw Clenshaw hurt again with a series of head shots that very nearly ended the bout. Clenshaw rallied late on but Shaick was good for the win by scores of 100-90 and 100-91, twice.
