Promoter John Carlisle stage low key seven bout card of professional boxing at DeCarlo’s Convention Center in Warren, Detroit on Friday night.
Of the seven bouts only the welterweight clash between Detroit’s Larry Ventus and Toledo’s Gab Morris went the distance, with Vntus winning a six round verdict in an entertaining contest.
The scores were 59-56, 58-56, 59-55.
Ventus started strong, dominating the first round Morris, however, livened things up in the second round, matching Ventus punch for punch. Ventus bloodied Morris’ nose in the third round, which proved a problem for Morris as the bout went on. Morris, though, fought through the pain and looked as though he may just grind Ventus down but Ventus boxed smoothly in the final round, to secure the win.
Ventus improves his record to (5-1, 4 KO’s). Morris drops to (4-16-2, 0 KO’s).
