Manny Pacquiao Post Fight Quotes“Cotto is not an easy opponent. He is a tough opponent and he took a lot of solid punches from me and he kept on fighting.”
A beaten but valiant
Miguel Cotto walked back to his dressing room under his own power and kissed his children.
9:43pm Las Vegas Pacific time: From
Mike Sloan at ringside – “The crowd is now chanting, ’we want Floyd! We want Floyd!" I’m not sure, but I think they are begging Roger Waters and David Gilmour from
Pink Floyd to get back together!”
9:37pm Las Vegas Pacific time: From
Mike Sloan at ringside – “
Round 12 - A lot of fans are leaving in between rounds 11 and 12. Must be Cotto fans. Cotto is moving well again and Pacquiao looks frustrated. Pacquiao lands a decent left hand and forces Cotto to back away. Pacquiao pounces and forces Cotto into a neutral corner. He lands a few glancing blows and Cotto covers up. Cotto tries to fire back but referee Kenny Bayless quickly jumps in and stops it. At the time it seemed too early but considering the way Cotto had taken a beating, it was probably the right call. Still, Cotto wasn’t in serious trouble at the time and he wasn’t hurt. The official time of the stoppage came at 0:55 of the 12th round. What an impressive
TKO victory for
Manny Pacquiao, who picks up a title belt in his seventh different weight class.”
9:34pm Las Vegas Pacific time:
Manny Pacquiao W.TKO.12 Miguel Cotto! – Round 12, 0:55 seconds9:32pm Las Vegas Pacific time: From
Mike Sloan at ringside – “Rd.11 - Cotto moving around again and is landing some good left jabs. Manny looks frustrated from not being able to engage with Cotto. More jabs from the Puerto Rican. Pacquiao unloads a flurry as Cotto backed himself a corner but landed some glancing blows. Big counter left hook by Cotto stuns Pacquiao but he recovered quickly. Cotto now bleeding from a cut above his left eye. Pacquiao starting to look tired now. Cotto is boxing well and winning the round. Crowd is booing now, which is blasphemy. Pacquiao can’t close the show and land anything. Cotto is moving very well, but he’s not letting his fists go. 10-9 Cotto.”
9:28pm Las Vegas Pacific time: From
Mike Sloan at ringside – “Rd.10 - Cotto backing away and jabbing well again. Pacquiao took his foot off the gas pedal for the first half of the round. He’s just following Cotto around, walking into a few scattered jabs. Pacquiao landed a decent left late but Cotto fired back with a right/left. Pacquiao took the round off, it appeared but it was still very close as Cotto didn’t land anything meaningful. 10-9 Cotto.”
9:24pm Las Vegas Pacific time: From
Mike Sloan at ringside – “Rd.9 - Cotto looks like he’s in survival mode. He’s tired and backing away without throwing too many punches. Pacquiao is now landing his punches with ease. Lefts and rights both land on Cotto, who is now a bloody, swollen mess. Huge left by Pacquiao hurts Cotto with about a minute left. Cotto clings on for dear life. It’s become a very one-sided beating and Cotto’s corner better think about throwing in the towel. He needs a miracle knockout to win. Nothing he’s throwing now hurts Pacquiao at all. 10-8 Pacquiao.”
9:20pm Las Vegas Pacific time: From
Mike Sloan at ringside – “rd.8 - Cotto sticking and moving well early. Pacquiao is missing a lot of his punches. About a minute in, Manny lands a hard straight left that stuns Cotto. He retreats and jabs some more. Cotto has a massive mouse under his right eye and is starting to look very worn out. Another flurry by Pacquiao forces Cotto into the ropes but he slinks away. 10-9 Pacquiao.”
9:16pm Las Vegas Pacific time: From
Mike Sloan at ringside – “Rd.7 - Huge flurry by Pacquiao early but Cotto blocks them all. Cotto’s face is very swollen now. Nice straight right hand by Cotto a minute in. Cotto sticking and moving nicely. His jab is back in front and he’s timing Pacquiao’s charges. Cotto is now circling to Pacquiao’s right again and is landing hard jabs. A very hard left jab ends the round for Cotto. 10-9 Cotto.”
9:13pm Las Vegas Pacific time: From
Mike Sloan at ringside – “Rd.6 - Cotto has good head movement again and is avoiding Manny’s bombs. Cotto jabbing again nicely. Pacquiao can’t land anything clean early. Cotto looks really good now. Midway through, Pacquiao lands a straight hand and then a left with Cotto against the ropes. Cotto slinks away and regroups. Pacquiao follows but walks into some more jabs and a counter left hook. Just before the bell, Manny lands a huge left that hurts Cotto but Cotto escapes and punctuates the round with a hard overhand right. 10-9 Pacquiao.”
9:09pm Las Vegas Pacific time: From
Mike Sloan at ringside – “Rd.5 –
Miguel Cotto looks okay in the fifth.
Manny Pacquiao doesn’t jump on him. Cotto jabbing more again, but he’s not overly aggressive. Pacquiao lands a decent flurry on the inside but he’s not as wild now, maybe setting a trap. With under a minute left, Cotto lands a big left uppercut along the ropes and then a powerful left hook. Pacquiao slips away and they trade in the center of the ring. Close round. 10-9 Cotto.”
9:04pm Las Vegas Pacific time: From
Mike Sloan at ringside – “Rd.4 - Cotto’s left jab is awesome. He lands it repeatedly. Manny darts in and out and Cotto can’t quite time his counter left hook. Pacquiao unloads a flurry. It stuns Cotto but he fires right back. Big left hook by Cotto followed by a right cross. Cotto pins Pacquiao on the ropes and plugs away. Pacquiao hit with another left and he escapes. They trade in center ring again. What action! Cotto backs away and is floored by a huge left hook with 15 seconds left. He is up at 5 but he is very wobbly. 10-8 Pacquiao.”
9:00pm Las Vegas Pacific time: From
Mike Sloan at ringside – “Rd.3 - Huge right hand drops Cotto a minute in! He is up and he’s hurt. He recovers quickly and fires two hard left jabs. Pacquiao really opening up but Cotto fends off the attacks. Against the ropes, Cotto lands a huge counter left hook but Pacquiao is fine. Cotto follows up with a right uppercut/left hook combo. Cotto is landing the better shots now. Very close round with tremendous action. 10-8 Pacquiao.”
8:57pm Las Vegas Pacific time: From
Mike Sloan at ringside – “Rd.2 - Cotto jabbing still. Pacquiao lands a nice straight right hand. Two straight lefts by the Filipino but Cotto shrugs them off. Pacquiao unfurls a right uppercut/straight left that stops Cotto a few seconds. Cotto answers with a hook to the body. They start to really open up with combos. Big left hand by Manny with a minute or so left. Cotto warned for a low blow with a minute left. They really trade punches now. Two hard punches by Pacquiao and then a left that hurts Cotto late. Awesome action. 10-9 Pacquiao.”
8:53pm Las Vegas Pacific time: From
Mike Sloan at ringside – “Rd.1 - The energy in this place is through the roof. This fight should be unbelievable. They touch gloves and are ready to go. Hard left jab by Cotto right away. Cotto moving to his left and jabbing nicely. Pacquiao can’t time him just yet. Cotto lands another jab and then digs a left hook to the body. Pacquiao misses with a counter left. Cotto stepping away from Manny’s power and is moving perfectly. 10-9 Cotto.”
8:45pm Las Vegas Pacific time: “Let’s Get Ready to Rumble!” says Michael Buffer.

8:39pm Las Vegas Pacific time: Manny Pacquiao enters the arena to
ACDC’s anthem “Thunderstruck” and
Survivor’s “Eye of the Tiger”.
8:37pm Las Vegas Pacific time: From
Mike Sloan at ringside – “After three magnificent national anthems, we’re ready to go. Pacquiao closed at an almost -300 favorite in most sports books. There is a great montage of all the great fights of years past on the big screen in a tribute to the sport of boxing. Very nice touch.”
8:26pm Las Vegas Pacific time: The Filipino and Puerto Rico national anthems now being sung.
Some of the celebrities at ringside:
Thomas “Hitman” Hearns, Derek Jeter, Mark Wahlberg, Roberto Duran, Magic Johnson & P Diddy.
8:26pm Las Vegas Pacific time: From
Mike Sloan at ringside – “My score: 99-91 Chavez. Official scores: 99-91, 98-92, 97-93 all for Chavez. They were much closer scores than I thought. So Chavez moves to 41-0-1 with 30 KOs. I’m pretty sure it’s time for him to really step up the level of competition and take on fighters at or near the top of the B level heap. Rowland falls to 25-3 with 7 KOs.”
8:23pm Las Vegas Pacific time: From
Mike Sloan at ringside – “Rd.10 - Last round and Rowland needs some sort of miracle, some sort of divine intervention in order to pull this one off. Chavez has dominated from the start and it’ll be a shock if the official judges gave him more than three rounds collectively. Chavez did what he has done all fight; dig to the body with some shots upstairs mixed in. The crowd cheers loudly when the ten second clicker was heard. The fight’s over. 10-9 Chavez.”
8:18pm Las Vegas Pacific time: From
Mike Sloan at ringside – “Rd.9 - The crowd is very quiet, which is even worse than being nasty with jeers and boos. The fight might have lulled them to sleep and unless a comet crashes inside the MGM and takes out Chavez, it’s virtually an impossibility that Rowland will be able to score a miracle come-from-behind knockout. Chavez is still digging away at the body, though. 10-9 Chavez.”
8:15pm Las Vegas Pacific time: From
Mike Sloan at ringside – “Rd.8 - Rowland has some life as he fires a series of punches early. Chavez is unfazed and calmly fires back. The crowd has grown restless as it’s pretty much the same as all the other rounds. Chavez probably should have put him away by now but Rowland is tough. 10-9 Chavez.”
8:11pm Las Vegas Pacific time: From
Mike Sloan at ringside – “Rd.7 - Rowland comes out strong again, but Chavez returns to his form of tearing up the body. Midway through the round, Chavez digs a hard left to the body and then lands a big left hook to the jaw. It sends Rowland back but he recovers quickly. Chavez lands another left hook to the body. It’s looking like Rowland is hurting now and he’s stopped throwing. Chavez pounces to the body and Rowland looks like he might not last much longer. 10-9 Chavez.”
The
ring officials for the Pacquiao-Cotto main event are: Referee Kenny Bayless, Judge Adalaide Byrd, Judge Duane Ford and Judge Dave Moretti.
8:07pm Las Vegas Pacific time: From
Mike Sloan at ringside – “Rd.6 - Chavez is starting to carry his left hand down below his waist now. Rowland is coming alive early in the round. He’s landing a lot more right hands. Though they aren’t crippling by any means, they are racking up points. It’s the first round he’s won on this scorecard. 10-9 Rowland.”
8:03pm Las Vegas Pacific time: From
Mike Sloan at ringside – “Rd.5 –
Troy Rowland’s face is swollen up at the start of the round but he’s still firing away at
Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, though no damage is being inflicted. Chavez seems a little lazy out there now, but he’s still landing those patented hooks to the liver. Hard left hook to the body from Chavez followed by a left hook up top. Rowland is unfazed and fires a right of his own, only to be countered by a right by Chavez. The young lion of Culiacan is starting to really set his feet with his punches and is throwing them harder. 10-9 Chavez.”
7:59pm Las Vegas Pacific time: From
Mike Sloan at ringside – “The MGM Grand Garden arena is almost totally packed at this point and in between rounds they show Cotto again on the big screens. Again, the crowd erupts with mixed cheers/jeers.”
7:58pm Las Vegas Pacific time: From
Mike Sloan at ringside – “Rd.4 - Rowland is now pressing the action as Chavez backs away. There is not much going on as both are just taking turns landing moderately damaging shots. Chavez took over control of the pace midway through and resorted back to ripping into the body. Rowland is tough and is not backing down but he’s just too slow and light-handed to cause any problems for Chavez. 10-9 Chavez.”
7:54pm Las Vegas Pacific time: From
Mike Sloan at ringside – “Rd.3 - Chavez comes right out at him to start the third. Rowland is tagged by a hard left hook as he lands a right of his own. The pace of the fight has slowed a bit but Chavez is still in total control. Rowland lands a loopy right hand late but there’s nothing on it. Chavez again digs to the body. 10-9 Chavez.”

Mike Sloan at ringside – “Rd.2 - It’s evident right away that Rowland is much, much slower than Chavez. The young contender continues to rake the body of his opponent. Chavez digs to the body again. And again and again. Chavez is dominating the fight but Rowland does land a hard right cross as Chavez comes in. It got Chavez’ attention as he scowled at the Michigan native. 10-9 Chavez.”
7:48pm Las Vegas Pacific time: From
Mike Sloan at ringside – “Rd.1 – Julio Cesar Chavez Jr starts off with the trademark left hook to the body. Troy Rowland is undaunted and is firing back but the young Mexican blocks the attacks. Chavez looks to be in a rhythm already and delivers a series of thudding shots to the hips, arms and ribcage of Rowland. If this continues, Rowland will have a hard time breathing for the next several days. 10-9 Chavez.”
7:43pm Las Vegas Pacific time: The
Julio Cesar Chavez Jr vs.
Troy Rowland, 10rds match at middleweight has commenced.
7:39pm Las Vegas Pacific time: Former undisputed lightweight world champion
Roberto Duran is in the crowd. The boxing great is tipping the
Pac-Man to win. “It is going to be a tough fight, but I like Pacquiao.”
7:38pm Las Vegas Pacific time: From
Mike Sloan at ringside – “The three official scores are 116-110 and 117-109 (twice) all for
Yuri Foreman. Secondsout.com saw it for Foreman by the margin of 117-110 over
Daniel Santos. The crowd is indifferent to the result. Both Pacquiao and Cotto are being shown on the big screens, riling up the crowd.”
7:34pm Las Vegas Pacific time: From
Mike Sloan at ringside – “Rd.12 - Looking at my scorecard, Santos needs a massive round or a knockout to win. He comes out hard, just like he is expected to. Santos goads Foreman into a brief slugfest and they exchange hard right hands. Santos charges in hard but walks right into a stiff right hand. He can’t time Foreman’s defense/angles. They clinch repeatedly. Foreman lost his mouthpiece during an exchange. Santos is dropped by a perfect short right hand! He’s up and coming forward. Two more rights by Santos. The Puerto Rican needs a knockout now. Foreman backs away with ten seconds left. Santos runs out of time and he’ll probably lose his WBA title to a decision. 10-8 Foreman.”
7:29pm Las Vegas Pacific time: From
Mike Sloan at ringside – “Rd.11 - Foreman ducked under a right hand and landed a hard counter right uppercut/hook of his own. He lands two more punches along the ropes and Santos has to slip away. Santos is now pressing the action, seeming like he needs a KO to win. He can’t land cleanly as Foreman is backing away perfectly. They clash heads again after Santos misses a wild left hook. Nady stops the bout and has the new cut over Santos’ right eye examined. It’s cleared and the fight resumes. Foreman is boxing beautifully now; perfect angles. Santos lands a hard left hand at the bell. 10-9 Foreman.”
7:25pm Las Vegas Pacific time: From
Mike Sloan at ringside – “Rd.10 - They clash heads yet again early in the round and this time it’s Foreman who is hurt and complaining. Hard right/left by Santos when the fight resumes. It’s decent two-way action while it lasts but the two resort to countering. Foreman is now pressing the action but he walked into a good counter right hand. With about 45 seconds left, Foreman lands a hard right hand. It stops Santos in his tracks momentarily but he shakes it off. 10-9 Foreman.”
7:24pm Las Vegas Pacific time:
Miguel Cotto is shown getting his hands wrapped on the arena big screen. Pacquiao’s trainer
Freddie Roach is in the dressing room watching the hand-wrapping. It’s a loud mixture of boos and cheers from the arena crowd, but the cheers are louder.
7:21pm Las Vegas Pacific time: From
Mike Sloan at ringside – “Rd.9 - Santos again is more aggressive to start the round but he’s not landing anything clean. He doesn’t look as frustrated as he has earlier. Santos lands a hard straight left hand flush on Foreman’s face. Another. Foreman returns the favor with a right. Santos pins Foreman along the ropes for a few moments but he misses with a wild right hook. Close round but Santos got it. 10-9 Santos.”
7:18pm Las Vegas Pacific time:
Manny Pacquiao is shown between rounds getting gloved up on the big screen in the arena. There is a loud mixture of boos and cheers.
7:17pm Las Vegas Pacific time: From
Mike Sloan at ringside – “Rd.8 Santos comes out of his corner more aggressively to start the eighth, landing two decent right jabs. They clash heads again about a minute in and Santos walks away holding his face, complaining to Nady about the clashes. Nady instead warns Santos to watch his head on the inside. Foreman delivers a nice straight right hand that backs away Santos, but the titlist is not shaken. Santos lands a hard left hook on the inside, his best punch in several rounds. Still, it wasn’t enough to win the round. 10-9 Foreman.”
7:13pm Las Vegas Pacific time: From
Mike Sloan at ringside – “Rd.7 -
Yuri Foreman is giving
Daniel Santos all sorts of problems now with his angles and clinching. They come together again and they clash heads hard. Santos falls onto his back from the clash and Nady rules it a slip and warns Foreman again for the tactics. Foreman is now cut slightly over his left eye from another clash of heads. Nady has it looked at and he’s cleared to fight. The cut looks harmless at this point. Santos doesn’t look as confident as he had earlier in the fight. At the end of the round, the blood is starting to flow freely out of Foreman’s cut. Very close round. 10-9 Foreman.”
7:08pm Las Vegas Pacific time: From
Mike Sloan at ringside – “Rd.6 - Hard left jab by Foreman and they get tangled up about 45 seconds into the round. Santos falls to the canvas and it’s correctly ruled a slip by Nady. What worries me now is that almost every time these two junior middleweights clinch, there is a clash of heads. There has yet to be a cut on either fighter, thankfully. 90 seconds in Foreman lands another hard right hand along the ropes. There is a small mouse growing under Santos’ left eye. The fight is turning ugly now, with a lot of clinching and mauling. Nady warned Foreman for the tactics and warned both to watch their heads. By round’s end, Santos looks a bit frustrated. 10-9 Foreman.”
7:04pm Las Vegas Pacific time: From
Mike Sloan at ringside – “Rd.5 - Santos still looks groggy to start the fifth but Foreman doesn’t jump on him. A minute in and Santos looks to have cleared his head. Santos lands a few decent straight left hands but they don’t rock Foreman. Yuri steps inside and cracks a hard right hand that forces Santos towards the ropes. The Puerto Rican doesn’t look hurt, though. By round’s end, Santos is back together and boxing well. Both men are starting to come into their own and the offense is picking up. 10-9 Foreman.”
7:01pm Las Vegas Pacific time: From
Mike Sloan at ringside – “Rd.4 - Big right hand hurts
Daniel Santos late! He is rocked badly and
Yuri Foreman jumps all over him. He pounds away on the ropes but Santos’ experience allows him to tie up his foe and survive the round. Had there been more time in the round, he might have been able to score a knockdown. Great round for Foreman, who was probably losing it until that point. 10-9 Foreman.”
6:58pm Las Vegas Pacific time: From
Mike Sloan at ringside – “Rd.1 - Very cautious round for both. Not one punch landed even remotely clean. The best punch was a glancing left hook by Foreman but he was backing away the entire round. Very difficult round to score but Santos pressed the issue from the start 10-9 Santos.
“Rd.2 - Very tentative still. Santos throwing some hard shots but nothing lands. Decent counter left hand by Santos with a minute left. Hard left hand by Santos rocks Yuri with 30 seconds left. Foreman drops Santos with 20 seconds left but Santos claims he was hit illegally behind the head. It was a right hand/push from a clinch or at least that’s what it looked like. Referee Jay Nady rules it a knockdown. Replays did not show the knockdown. Santos was winning the round clearly but the knockdown hurt him. 10-9 Foreman.
"Rd.3 - Good straight left hand by Santos early. Very cautious again as not much offense is being thrown by either man. Close round again 10-9 Santos.”
6:46pm Las Vegas Pacific time: From
Mike Sloan at ringside – “This is by far the biggest test for
Yuri Foreman, who plans on becoming a rabbi. He looks very relaxed,
Daniel Santos looks anxious. Santos also looks like he put on a ton of weight from the time of the weigh-in until now. Time will tell if this hurts or helps him.”
6:41pm Las Vegas Pacific time: From
Mike Sloan at ringside – “Wow, Top rank is sending in the next fighters already. Yuri Foreman just entered the ring to the sounds of Pantera’s ‘Walk’. He’s now my favorite boxer of all times.”
6:40pm Las Vegas Pacific time: From
Mike Sloan at ringside – “Manny Pacquiao was just shown on the big screens making his grand entrance to the arena. The cheers for him blew away those for Cotto. I guess I was a bit off in my estimation?”
6:36pm Las Vegas Pacific time:
Manny Pacquiao arrives at the arena with his team and wife Jinkee.
6:34pm Las Vegas Pacific time: From
Mike Sloan at ringside – “The Gomez/Soto-Karas fight just got stopped. The cut over Gomez’ eye was deemed too severe for the fight to continue. And since the cut was from an accidental clash of heads and the fight lasted more than four full rounds, a technical decision had to be rendered. Two judges saw it 57-55 and one had it 58-54 for Gomez. Had the two points not been taken away, it would have been a majority technical draw. The fight was stopped at 2:41 of the sixth.”
6:27pm Las Vegas Pacific time: From
Mike Sloan at ringside – “After four rounds of action, the Gomez/Soto-Karass fight is a corker. Gomez got cut badly in the third round over his right eye thanks to an accidental clash of heads. The fight so far is as close as they come, but Soto-Karass has already lost two points from repeated low blows. Referee Vic Drakulich could disqualify the Los Mochis, Mexico native of he’s not careful.”
6:24pm Las Vegas Pacific time:
Miguel Cotto is sitting front row ringside with his wife watching the Gomez-Karass fight. Cotto has his headphones on and has no expression on his face.
6:22pm Las Vegas Pacific time: Jesus Soto Karass has been penalised a second point for a low blow in round 4 against Alfonso Gomez.
6:18pm Las Vegas Pacific time: Alfonso Gomez has begun strong against Jesus Soto Karass, appearing to win the first two rounds. Gomez is cut over the right eye from a head clash in round 3. Now Karass has been deducted 1 point for a low blow.
6:08pm Las Vegas Pacific time:
Jesus Soto Karass vs.
Alfonso Gomez, 10rds – welterweight is now underway in round 1.
6:02pm Las Vegas Pacific time: From
Mike Sloan at ringside – “Thousands of people are now filling the seats inside the arena. It’s still far from full, but at least when Alfonso Gomez and Jesus Soto-Karass square off, it’ll be in front of a respectable crowd. Also, Filipino sensation
Nonito Donaire was spotted in the media center during the savagery that is the fight reporters’ feast on free food. Look out as your hands might get ripped off!”

Trainer
Floyd Mayweather Sr is tipping Miguel Cotto to defeat Manny Pacquiao. “Cotto has the edge of Pacquiao. Not every boxer he has faced has been stunned by Pacquiao’s speed.”
5:44pm Las Vegas Pacific time: From
Mike Sloan at ringside – “Junior middleweight prospect Rodrigo Garcia won a lopsided unanimous four round decision over Martin Vierra in the final prelim bout of the evening. Garcia could do nothing wrong in the contest and won every round on the judges’ scorecards and walked away with a victory with scores of 40-36 thrice. Garcia, from Los Angeles and now 5-0 with 4 KOs, dominated from start to finish and never was in any danger of being hurt whatsoever. Vierra, from Phoenix, Arizona, dipped to 5-3-1 (2).”
Sugar Shane Mosley and
Andre Berto held a press conference at Mandalay Bay, Las Vegas on Saturday afternoon to officially announce their January 30, 2010 match on HBO. Berto will defend his WBC welterweight world title.
Mosley has been frustrated that he could not get either one of Floyd Mayweather Jr, Manny Pacquiao or Miguel Cotto in the ring since he knocked out Antonio Margarito on January 24. “They don’t want to fight,” said Mosley, “so I’ll fight these other welterweights. The reason they won’t fight me is because I’m the most difficult. I’m the best.”
5:09pm Las Vegas Pacific time: From
Mike Sloan at ringside – “Yep, it’s over.
Eden Sonsona flew out of the gates immediately and swarmed
Eilon Kedem, pinned him in his corner and blew him away in just 17 seconds. Referee Joe Cortez had no choice but to pull off Sonsona. He got a great TKO win in the second round to improve to 14-3 with only his fourth pro KO, Kedem dropped to 9-2-4 with 6 KOs.”
5:08pm Las Vegas Pacific time: From
Mike Sloan at ringside – “So far the Sonsona-Kedem fight looks like a blow-out. Sonsona fights exactly like Pacquiao in terms of how he stands and moves around the ring and if the fight continues this way, he’ll score a knockout like his hero. Sonsona scored a quick knockdown with a perfect straight left hand and when Kedem got up, he charged right at him. he unloaded a furious assault but couldn’t put away his opponent. Kedem was saved by the bell. It doesn’t look too promising for young Kedem.”
5:04pm Las Vegas Pacific time: From
Mike Sloan at ringside – “It’s always a given that whenever Manny Pacquiao fights, a host of his fellow countrymen will fight on the same card. Next up is
Eden Sonsona, from General Santos City taking on
Eilon Kedem from New York City. It’s a bantamweight attraction and it looks good on paper.”
5:02pm Las Vegas Pacific time: From
Mike Sloan at ringside – “Middleweight contender
Matt Korobov just scored a lopsided unanimous decision over the game but overmatched
James Winchester. Korobov took his time in picking apart the crude Winchester and by the third round ended, it seemed like the native of Orotukan, Russia was going to stop his foe. The body work from Korobov was devastating but the resident of Reidsville, North Carolina was a resilient bloke and was able to hang on for the full six rounds. In the end, the three ringside judges all scored it 60-54 for Korobov, who remains unbeaten at 8-0 with 6 KOs. For his efforts, the tough Winchester fell to 10-3 with 3 KOs.”
