Jerry Glick reporting: The on again, off again, junior welterweight title fight between unbeaten Dmitriy “Star of David” Salita and WBA titlist Andreas Kotelnik now appears to be dead in the water. Something that causes Salita to wonder why the champion has passed up the opportunity to fight in Madison Square Garden under Calzaghe-Jones Jr. for what Salita claims is good money that was previously agreed upon.
“I was told that Andreas Kotelnik would not be defending his WBA junior welterweight championship against me because he injured a rib in his fight on September 13th,” said Salita. “Now I read on another website that he didn’t come fight me in Madison Square Garden because he wasn’t offered enough money. Last week it was his rib, and this week it’s the money... Andreas, make up your mind which excuse will be used not to take the fight. It is obvious to me that he doesn’t want to fight me. Everything that he asked for was agreed to by my promoter.”

Salita, 28-0-1 (16), believes that Kotelnik, 30-2-1 (13), will look for any reason he can find to fight anyone but him.
“If down the road Andreas sees his cardiologist and has a change of heart, call Square Ring and make the fight happen,” adds Salita.
Salita and Square Ring have come up with another opponent so the Ukrainian born, Brooklyn raised, Salita will still perform on the November 8th show.
“I am focused on Willie Limond, 29-2 (8), who is a tough fighter. I have geared up my preparations towards facing him.”
