Oscar De La Hoya, President of Golden Boy Promotions, is a ten time world champion across six divisions and promoter for this Saturday’s mega event, tagged “Ring Kings”, which will be held at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
De La Hoya took on both Floyd Mayweather and Sugar Shane Mosley in classic match ups during his own illustrious career and had this to say about the challenges they each face.
Miguel Cotto (WBA Junior Middleweight Champion) vs. Floyd Mayweather (Challenger)
“This is a very good fight because of styles. Miguel Cotto can offset your punches by being very technical, he’s like a larger version of Juan Manuel Marquez. I don’t even care who wins this one but I do want to see a great fight.”
Saul Alvarez (WBC Junior Middleweight Champion) vs. Sugar Shane Mosley (Challenger)
“This battle is very interesting because you have youth versus experience and Shane is a very dangerous opponent at this stage of his career. He knows this is his last opportunity! Mosley is well trained so can Canelo take the pressure? Can he handle the big stage? Can he handle facing a legend in Shane Mosley? To be honest, Canelo is only 21 years old but he is so strong. If Canelo lands a good shot I think it’s goodnight for Mosley.”
