Following his 10th round stoppage defeat to Vitali Klitschko in Poland on Saturday night Tomasz Adamek graciously accepted he was beaten by the better man.
Unlike Briton David Haye, who was clearly schooled by Vitali’s younger brother Wladimir Klitschko earlier this year, Adamek was humble in defeat.
“I knew from the beginning that fight was not going my way,” said Adamek. “I wanted to change this fight and find a way to trick Vitali, but he’s a smart fighter and was better tonight
“I don’t think he surprised me with anything today, he was just a better man. Physically I’m OK, just a lot of cuts. I will be able to live a normal life. This is boxing, not chess. I got hit in the second round, I was able to keep my balance, but every big hit changes you, takes your strength. But I was still trying.”
