

Heavyweight Dennis Bakhtov stunned German Steffen Kretschmann by unexpectedly knocking him out in the opening round at the Hermann-Neuberger-Halle in Voelklingen, Germany on Friday night.
Kretschmann,13-1-(12) started the fight aggressively, rocking Bakhtov but Bakrov suddenly smashed in a huge right hand, wobbling Kretschmann. The referee for some reason only known to himself stepped in to stop the action, allowing Kretschmann a little breathing time. However, when the fight resumed Bakhtov connected with a cracking right hook, sending Kretschmann crashing to the floor Kretschmann gamely rose but was in no fit state to continue and the fight was waved off before the bell cold ring to end the round.
On the undercard WBC/WBO No.2 Herbie Hide, 48-4-(43), banged out overmatched Hungarian Gabor Halasz, 26-13-(10), in three one-sided rounds. In what was a horrible fight to watch the Hungarian was floored in round one and badly cut in round two. The end came after 2:20 when a left hook,-uppercut and right hook combo nailed Halasz
