Brosch Claims Canadian Welterweight Crown


Tebor Brosch won the vacant Canadian welterweight title in a fierce battle with Justin Fountain at the Hershey Centre in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada on Saturday night.

The fight was stopped in the seventh round by the ringside ringside physician when both boxers suffered horrific cuts over both eyes. When the bout went to the scorecards, Brosch, 6-3-4-(2), was judged the winner on two of the judges cards by scores of 68-65 and 68-66 while the third official made Fountain the winner, 67-66. Fountain falls to 6-3-3-(2).

On the undercard, undefeated Super Featherweight Logan McGuinness 11-0-1-(5) remained unbeaten when he stopped Jorge Banos in the opening round. McGuinness floored the Quebec based fighter twice before both his corner and the referee called a halt to the bout after 2.17.

Mississauga’s Denton Daley won the battle of the unbeaten cruiserweights against Pasteur Mbuyi when he scored a unanimous decision win over four rounds. The scores were 39-37 twice and 39-36. Mbuyi was floored in the second round but the referee failed to accept a legitimate knockdown.
