Caballero Gain Revenge Over Barros/Garay Defeated


Celestino Caballero (35-4, 23 KOs) out-pointed Victor Barros (33-2-1, 18 KOs) via 12 round decision at the Estadio Luna Park in Buenos Aires, Argentina on Friday night to win the WBA featherweight title.

In the mandated rematch Caballero dominated this fight from the first bell till the last . Caballero had Barros in all sorts of trouble in round 11 but the champion managed to survived the round.

The official scores were 116-111, 118-111, 116-112 all for Caballero.

On the undercard light heavyweight Roberto Feliciano Bolonti (27-1, 17 KOs) scored a fourth round stoppage win over Jose Hilton Dos Santos (31-15-1, 20 KOs). Bolonti floored Dos Santos in round one and got the job done with a series of right hands in the fourth round. Bolonti retained his WBC Latino title.

The night was not so successful for former WBA light heavyweight champion Hugo Garay (34-7, 18 KOs), who was surprisingly stopped in round five by Cesar Crenz (20-5, 13 Os).

In his first bout since his to Marco Huck for the WBO cruiserweight crown in July, Garay was decked by a right and left combination in round five before the bout was stopped
