By Paul Upham: Nigerian born junior middleweight rising boxing star King Davidson, who won the Australian title on June 19, has been elevated to the OPBF No.1 position in the latest ratings. In the previous ratings, Davidson was at No.7.

“King has jumped over the other contenders and now we can force a fight with the OPBF champion Yuki Nonaka,” Davidson’s manager Peter Mitrevski Sr told SecondsOut.

24 year-old Davidson 9-0 (5), who now resides in Sydney, has been described by his trainer Johnny Lewis as being one of the most talented prospects he has ever worked with.

31 year-old Nonaka 19-7-2 (7) from Amagasaki, Hyogo in Japan, won the OPBF belt from Kazuhiko Hidaka on June 20 at the Korakuen Hall in Tokyo.

“We are willing to fight him in Japan,” said Mitrevski, “or we can have the fight here in Australia.”

Mitrevski is also expected to fly overseas on Thursday July 2, to negotiate a possible appearance by Davidson on an American television network later in 2009.
