By Lwazi Ndzobongo: Bongani Dlamini earned the right to fight for the SA Light weight title by beating Samkelo Fani via third round knockout at the Nasrec Indoor Arena, south of Johannesburg over the weekend. The referee stopped the fight at 1 minute and 34 seconds of the third round after Dlamini landed another left right combination.
Fani had already been down twice in the round and the referee had no option but to end proceedings as Fani was clearly hurt and unable to continue. The first knockdown came via a left hook that landed flush on Fani’s head, before a chopping right hand sent Fani once again to the canvass for another 8 count. Dlamini improved to 12-2 (9) and now stands to challenge for the SA title, Fani dropped to 10-5 (8).
Jason Bedeman took 3 minutes and 24 seconds to knockout Nicholas Modibeng and add another W on his impressive record. Bedeman was fighting for the second time in under a month and made light work of Modibeng in a Lightweight bout. The ending came via a left right combination from which Modibeng had no answer and went down. Bedeman improved to 17-1-2 (12), Modibeng dropped to 8-6.
