Raul and Ramon Garcia joined Wladimir and Vitali Klitschko as the only brothers to hold world titles at the same time at the Foro Polanco in Mexico City on Saturday night. Raul stopped Rommel Asenjo via third round stoppage in a WBO minimumweight title clash while brother Ramon scored a fourth round stoppage win over Jesus Geles for the WBO junior flyweight crown.
Raul Garcia floored Asenjo heavily in round three.Asenjo managed to climb to his feet and carry on but was rocked by a combination of punches leaving the referee to step in and stop the fight after 2:52 of the round. Raul Garcia improves to 30-1-1-(18), Asenjo falls to 20-3-(16).
Ramón García, the former WBO interim junior flyweight king, turned the tables on Jesus Geles after dropping a split decision to the Colombian in February, 2010, by scoring a fourth round knockout to win the WBO light flyweight crown.
Garcia floored Geles in the opening round before finishing him off after 1.15 of round four, Ramon Garcia improves to 16-2-1-(9), Geles drops to 12-2-1-(5).
Ramon and younger brother Raul now belong to an exclusive club together with the Klitschkos as the only brothers to own world championship belts at the same time.
