Middleweight Nader “Lionheart” Hamdan (42-9-1, 18 KOs) out-pointed Daniel Pawsey (13-4, 8 KOs) over 12 rounds at the Orion Function Centre, Campsie, New South Wales, Australia on Friday.
In a close contest Hamdan was more aggressive and connected with more eye catching punches, especially early on in the fight. Pawsey, however, was always in the fight and had his share of success in round six when he cracked Hamden with a thunderous right hand.
Pewsey continued to pressure Hamden down the stretch and both looked a bit vulnerable at times but Hamden did the cleaner work in a highly entertaining fight. The scores of 118-110; 115-113 and 119-112 did not do Pewsey justice.
On the undercard Billy Dib (3-0, 2 KOs) outscored Luke Norton (2-2) over six rounds. Norton proved to be a good test but Dib’s heavy hands made the difference. The scores ended up 60-54 twice and 59-55
At Light heavyweight Michael Van Nimwegen (5-1, 2 KOs) looked good in outscoring Joel Bourke (14-20-2, 7 KOs) over six rounds. The scores were 58-56; 60-54; and 59-53.
