By Mikko Salo: At today`s press conference promoting the December 3rd “The Night of the Heavyweights” card in Hartwall Arena, Helsinki, Finland the most interesting question was the one concerning the opponent of The Ring #5 contender Robert “Nordic Nightmare” Helenius (16-0, 11 KO). He doesn`t have one yet. Team Sauerland is working full steam to set Helenius up for a European title bout in front of the raucous home crowd.
The current European titlist, The Ring #6 contender Alexander Dimitrenko (32-1, 21 KO) apparently wants to move the November 7th purse bid further (it was originally scheduled for Oct 31st). “If the purse bid takes place, I believe we will win it and Helenius will fight Dimitrenko in Helsinki”, said Hagen Doering from Team Sauerland.

“If Dimitrenko won`t take the Helenius fight in Helsinki, we will demand that the EBU vacates the title and gives Robert a chance to fight for it. The opponent would then likely be Derek Chisora of England”. Chisora (14-1, 9 KO) is coming off his first career loss suffered in July against Tyson Fury (16-0, 11 KO) in a Commonwealth and British title fight.
“If we don`t land the European title bout in Finland, Helenius could fight Jonathon Banks of USA. Chisora and Banks are both ready to fight Helenius on December 3rd”, Doering stated. Banks (27-1-1, 18 KO) is a former cruiserweight title challenger whose only career loss came against The Ring #3 heavyweight contender Tomasz Adamek (44-2, 28 KO) in an IBF cruiserweight title bout.
The Helsinki card is also featuring another top-notch heavyweight contest with The Ring #2 heavyweight contender Alexander Povetkin (22-0, 15 KO) of Russia facing Cedric Boswell (35-1, 26 KO) of USA.
