Jokinen Still Undefeated

By Mikko Salo: Urheilutalo in Pori, Finland was the venue for an entertaining card of Finnish fight action on Friday 11th November. P3 Boxing`s super middleweight prospect Niko Jokinen (15-0, 5 KO) kept his undefeated record intact with a 4th round TKO against Andrejus Cepuras (3-5, 0 KO) of Lithuania.

According to Jokinen`s trainer Pekka Mäki Cepuras was a good milestone on the way up the super middleweight ranks. ”Next opponent will be a step up in class”, Mäki stated. Jokinen`s next match will likely be in Seinäjoki in January.

In the other match-ups of the evening, the vacant Finnish middleweight title was claimed by 27-year-old Timo Laine (5-1, 0 KO), who defeated the 44-year-old veteran from nearby Harjavalta, Kai Kauramäki (18-18, 6 KO) via a ten-round majority decision. During his long career Kauramäki has previously fought for EU titles in light middleweight (in 2011) and middleweight (2005) divisions, but now it seems he has finally reached the end of the road.

Also on the card, undefeated light middleweight Aki Selesmaa (6-0, 3 KO) scored a 6-round unanimous decision over Slovakian Rastislav Kovac (25-18-1, 8 KO). His brother, light heavyweight Sami Selesmaa (6-2, 3 KO) TKOed Miroslav Kvocka (9-34-1, 3 KO) of Slovakia in the third round. Cruiserweight Janne Forsman (4-0, 1 KO) won a 6-round unanimous decision over Slovakian Jan Antoska (1-1, 0 KO).
