Daiki Kameda claimed the WBA flyweight title in front of his own fans via a 12 round decision over defending champion Den Kaowichit at the world Memorial Hall in Kobe, Japan on Sunday.
The 21 year-old Kameda, 16-2-(11), was awarded a unanimous decision by scores of 116-110 twice and 114-112.
As far as world title fights go it was by no means a classic as Kameda fell to the canvas a number of times while the Thai champion was reprimanded twice, in the sixth and 11th rounds. However, Kameda succeeded in joining his brother, Koki Kameda as a world champion at the same weight at the same time. Koki is the WBC flyweight.
