‘Canadian Kid’ David Lemieux once again proved he can punch. At the Bell Center in Montreal, Canada on Friday night the 21 year-old recorded his 25-0 straight win and incredibly, his 21st stoppage in the first two rounds.
Lemieux, who is ranked No.3 by the WBC and WBA, must now surely be matched with a genuine top 10 fighter in a bid to gauge whether he is a genuine contender.
American Gates falls to 18-2-(13).
In something of a shock Renan St-Juste, 22-2-1-(15), flattened Sebastien Demers, 31-4-(11) after:0.54 of the second round. Demers sank to his knees courtesy of a left hand and a number of left hand punches laid him out.
St Juste won the NABO super-middleweight title for his efforts.
