Lemieux Forced to Hear Final Bell For First time
Knockout specialist David Lemieux, 21-0-(20), was forced to hear the final bell for the first time in his professional career at the Casino in Montreal, Canada Saturday night when the experienced Jason Naugler forced him to go the 10 round distance.
The 21 year-old puncher had dispatched his first 20 victims inside the distance, with none of them lasting more than five rounds. Despite Lemieux knocking Naugler down in the second round the tough Nova Scotia fighter managed to soak up everything Lemieux could throw at him.
At the end of the 10 rounds for the vacant Canadian super-middleweight title, all three judges scored the bout for Lemieux 100-89 on all three scorecards.
On the undercard former two-time world title challenger Hermann Ngoudjo, 18-3-(10), returned to the ring for the first time in over a year to score a sixth round tko win over Mexican Silverio Ortiz.
Ortiz was a tough opponent for the first five rounds but when Ngoudjo hurt with a right uppercut the Mexican turned his back looked to have had enough, forcing the referee to wave off the fight after 143 of the sixth round.
