WBC #1 ranked Filipino Sylvester Lopez (17-3-1, 13 KOs) stopped Oscar Ibarra (27-5, 18 KOs) in the eighth round to win the WBC Silver Super Flyweight title at the Plaza de Toros in Juriquilla, Queretaro, Mexico on Saturday night.
Lopez built up an early lead in the first four rounds until Ibarra worked his way back into the fight around the fifth session. Lopez now becomes the mandatory challenger for reigning WBC champion Suriyan Sor Rungvisai of Thailand.
