Argentine tough guy Marcos Maidana is pressing for a rematch against WBA junior-welterweight king Amir Khan following the cancellation of his scheduled bout with Robert "The Ghost" Guerrero.
The bout was scrapped when Guerrero sustained a serious shoulder injury just a week before their scheduled bout.
"It was terribly disappointing, especially when you hear the news only eight days before the fight," Maidana told RingTV.com.
Maidana and Khan fought a 12 round war in late 2010. Khan built up an early lead but Maidana fought back and had the champion pretty much out on his feet in the 10th round. Khan won the decision but now Maidana wants revenge.
"I don’t believe this big mouth (Khan) has the [courage] to fight me again," insisted Maidana. "He keeps fooling his own fans by making excuses all the time."
"I think I deserve it, and he knows it.. But instead he petitions the WBA from preventing the fight by saying that he has bigger challenges ahead."
