Hernan Marquez is the new WBA flyweight champion after defeating champion Luis Concepcion at the Roberto Duran Arena in Panama on Saturday night.
From the opening bell both men let their hands go and both Marquez and Concepcion hit the canvass. Concepcion wobbled Marquez at the end of the second round but Marquez floored Concepcion for a second time midway through the third session .
The fight ebbed one way and then the other for much of the fight until round 10 when Marquez floored Concepcion for a third time. The bout was stopped at the end of the 10th round on the recommendation of the ringside doctor.
A rematch is surely on the cards. Marquez moves to 30-2-(17), Concepcion falls to 22-2-(17).
