Despite having struggled to shine as a heavyweight and failing to score a stoppage win for five years former cruiserweight champ Jean Marc Mormeck has threatened to smash Wladimir Klitschko’s ‘Glass’ chin.
French based Mormeck challenges the younger Klitschko brother for his IBF/WBA and WBO heavyweight crowns at the Esprit Arena in Dusseldorf, Germany on December 10.
Speaking at the press conference to publicise the fight Mormeck, aged 39, said: "He [Klitschko] has something that I want and I have to break his face to get it," the 39-year-old said. "I know that he does not like to be hit. I have said it already and I mean it, he has a glass chin."
On hearing what Mormeck had to say regarding his fragile chin Klitschko replied: "I will find out what your chin is made of. Everyone has a plan, until they get hit."
One opponent Klitschko has in common with Mormeck is former cruiserweight and heavyweight champ David Haye. Whilst Haye stopped Mormeck in France back in 2007 Klitschko went on to destroy Haye on points earlier this year. But the fact Mormeck managed to deck Haye where Klitschko failed, means Klitschko will respect his firepower.
"He is serious about this fight, he knows what he is talking about," Klitschko said. "I would compare him with Mike Tyson; he is never going backwards like David Haye [did]. He knocked him down. It’s something I could not do."
