By Paul Upham: Former WBA super middleweight boxing world champion Anthony “The Man” Mundine will continue his run at middleweight on Wednesday May 27 when he challenges undefeated IBO world title holder and fellow Australian Daniel Geale. The two will clash over twelve rounds at the Brisbane Convention Centre.

“Daniel is a good little fighter, great amateur background,” Mundine 35-3 (23) said of Geale, at Tuesday’s press conference. “But I’m the best. I’m the ‘Man.’”

Originally from Tasmania and a gold medallist at the 2002 Manchester Commonwealth Games, 28 year-old Geale 21-0 (13) is facing the toughest opponent of his career so far, but is looking forward to the challenge.

“It’s time to step it up,” admitted Geale. “This is the fight where I’ll show what I can do. This is my time. He is a great fighter. We can just wait and see.”

33 year-old Mundine wants to use a win over Geale, who is currently rated No.9 by The Ring magazine, to secure matches with the other current middleweight world title holders, Kelly Pavlik (WBC/WBO), Arthur Abraham (IBF) and Felix Sturm (WBA).

“After I win this title, all I want is champions,” declared Mundine. “I don’t want to be messing around with no contenders.”
