Former Australian lightweight champion Brett William Smith scored a six round technical decision over Robert Whaley (6-3-2, 3 KOs) at the Cronulla League Club, Sydney, Australia on Friday to win the PABA junior welterweight title.
Smith sustained a cut over his right eye in the opening round caused by an accidental head clash in round six round. The ringside doctor advised the referee to stop the fight and the scorecards came out, all for Smith by 49-46, on all three card.
On the undercard light middleweight Jason Kanofski (15-7-3, 2 KOs) out pointed Adrien Campbell (9-9, 3 KOs) over eight thrilling rounds by scores 79-74, 78-74, 80-72.
In aHeavyweight battle David Aloua (3-0, 3 KOs), stopped Walter Pupu’a (12-13, 8 KOs) after at 2:25 of the opening round. The referee stopped the bout after Pupu’a was floored for the second time.
