The IBF middleweight title bout between champion Sebastian Sylvester challenger Mehdi Bouadla due to take place in Neubrandenburg, Germany on Saturday has been postponed.
The entire card, including American Steve Cunningham’s IBF cruiserweight title fight against mandatory challenger Enad Licina of Serbia, is off. The card was scrapped after Sylvester "felt ill and exhausted," confirmed promoter Chris Meyer of Sauerland Event on Monday.
“I am very disappointed,” Sylvester said. “All of a sudden I felt sick and exhausted. I went straight to the doctor who told me that I could not fight on Saturday. That is a major disappointment for me as I was really looking forward to fighting in front of my home fans in Neubrandenburg.”
According to Meyer, the entire show will be re-scheduled for February 5, subject to the approval from the IBF.
"Based on the result of the examination we will reschedule the card to as early as Feb. 5 or 12," Meyer said.
