Tapia Roadshow Continues/Garcia Retains Title/Eastman Defeated


In El Foro, Tijuana, Mexico on Saturday night, WBO interim mini-flyweight champion Ramon García Hirales retained his crown via majority decision against Manuel Vargas.

The scores after 12 tough rounds were 115-113 for Garcia twice and 114-114.
On the undercard former WBC super-featherweight champ Humberto Gutierrez improved to 28-2-1; 20,outpointing Rene Gonzalez (27-3-1; 21) over 10 rounds: 98-92 twice and 99-91.

On Friday night In Albuquerque, New Mexico former five-time world champion Johnny Tapia improved to 58-5-2-(30) stopped Jose Alonso after 1:43 of the fourth round to win the IBC Americas junior lightweight title.
