Tony Thompson has been named as the IBF’s mandatory challenger to Wladimir Klitschko’s heavyweight title.
It follows Eddie Chambers’ withdrawal from a final eliminator with Thompson because of what he claimed was a back problem. He later declined a rescheduled date allowing Thompson to take the title fight unchallenged.
Klitshcko previously stopped Thompson on July 2008. His next title defence is against France’s Jean-Marc Mormeck on Dec. 10 in Düsseldorf, Germany.
