Yamanaka Outscores Darchinyan/Ao Retains Title In Tokyo


WBC bantamweight champion Shinsuke Yamanaka, 16-0-2- (11),won a 12 round unanimous decision win over Vic Darchinyan, 37-5-1-(27), in Tokyo, Japan on Friday night.

 

The Australian based Armenian managed to set a fast pace early on and gave Yamanaka a few problems early on but settled down and connect with some well timed combination punching to remain unbeaten. All three judges scored the bout for the Japanese boxer by scores of 116-112, 116-112 and 117-111).

 

In the co main event WBC super-featherweight champ Takahiro Ao, 23-2-1-(10), retained his title after scoring a unanimous 12 round decision win over Terdsak Kokietgym, 46-4-1, (31), from Thailand. The scores were, 116-112, 116-112 and 118-110.
