By Paul Upham: Exciting undefeated prospect Lenny Zappavigna takes another important step in his boxing career when he faces two-time world title challenger Tommy Browne on Friday night at The Cube in Campbelltown, Sydney, headlining a card promoted by Grange Old School Boxing.

While the vacant IBF Pan Pacific junior welterweight title is at stake in this fight, more importantly, the reputations and future world title ambitions of both young boxers will be on the line.

“I am 100% ready to go. I have trained hard. I am ready to go the rounds, or get a knockout,” 21 year-old Zappavigna told “This is probably going to be one of my hardest fights. He is a good fighter. He is tough and he is going to be there. He has fought the best.”

5’6’’ tall Zappavigna 16-0 (12) from Leppington will be looking up at Browne who is listed in height at 5’11’’.

“I have fought tall boxers before and I like fighting them,” said Zappavigna. “It won’t bother me. I have watched a lot of his fights. I have known him for a long time. We have never sparred, but we have trained together before. I have to go out there and be smart, box and work the body a lot.”

25 year-old Browne 26-5-1 (11) from Campbelltown lost to WBA featherweight world champion Chris John in August 2005 and lost to WBC world champion In-Jin Chi in January 2005.

“Lenny’s training has been awesome,” said Zappavigna’s trainer Tommy Mercuri. “You have never seen him so fit in his life. I have never seen him so determined for any fight. I am predicting a knockout win. Believe me, when you see him in the ring you will get it. We are not taking Tommy lightly, but we have trained hard and are ready to go.”

The card will be televised live around Australia on Fox Sports 3 from 7:30pm AEDT.
