Hasegawa retains WBC crown/Valero still KO king


Hozumi Hasegawa retained his WBC bantamweight crown in front of his hometown crowd in Kobe, Japan on Saturday night with a ninth round one punch knockout over Veeraphol Nakhornluang-Promotion.

Hasegawa, who was two rounds up on all three judges cards before a cracking right hook stopped the Thai challenger in his tracks, improves to 20-2-(7) while Nakhornluang-Promotion falls to 52-3-2-(37).

On the undercard Venezuelan lightweight Edwin Valero extended his incredible knockout record to 19 wins in 19 starts. The 24 year-old southpaw had stopped all his previous 18 opponents in the opening round but this time he was made to work overtime before stopping Genaro Trazancos in the second round.
