Amonsot and Denoy look sharp in training

Fri 5-May-2006 13:13

By Salven L. Lagumbay: Both Czar Amonsot and Along Denoy are extremely in fighting form as they wrap up their training for their respective assignments on May 12 at the Orleans Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.

Las Vegas-based Briton Tony Martin, who arranged both fights, revealed in an exclusive interview yesterday that since their arrival in the US, both Amonsot and Denoy have been training extremely hard.

With a daily routine that starts at 6am, the Tagbilaran City native Amonsot and Denoy run approximately 6 miles daily, under the watchfull eye of trainer Edito 'Ala' Villamor and Martin.

Their afternoon workouts (except Sunday) include three hours at the gym, with six-round sparring sessions done every other day.

"For the first couple of days their time clocks were upside down, but I am now happy to report they are starting to look real sharp in the gym," reported Tony Martin to this writer.

"Czar is looking slick in the ring with crisp punching, good movements and a sense of self control when on the attack, plus a good defence, all of which I have mentioned he will have to take into the ring on the night of the fight, as his opponent is a banger, and comes out with both guns blazing," Martin stressed.

Amonsot takes on Puerto Rican Jose Reyes in the 10-round co-main event.

"Denoy, this little guy for me is a 112lb bulldog, with the heart of a lion when in the ring, His condition is perfect, and he is ready to go to war. He will have to go into the ring with that bulldog attitude on the night of the fight and pressure his opponent from round one," added Martin.

The Candijay, Bohol native Denoy battles American Sergio Espinoza in another 10-round duel.
