

Donnie Nietes from the Philippines won the vacant WBO minimumweight title by scoring a unanimous decision win over 12 rounds against the previously undefeated Thai Pornsawan Kratingdaenggym at the Waterfront Hotel in Cebu City, Manila, Sunday(Sept 30) night. In a close fight the 25 year-old Filipino was judged the winner on all three judge cards by scores of 115-111,116-110 and 114-113.
Kratingdaenggym was floored in the fourth round by a three punch combination including a straight right hand to the chin. The Thai boxer was also deducted a point in the 10th round for repeatedly punching below the belt.
Kratingdaenggym,to his credit, fired back strongly in the middle rounds as Nietes began to tire but the Filipino rallied late on to secure a close but tough points win
