By Clive Bernath: world heavyweight champion brothers Wladimir and Vitali Klitschko have issued a joint statement concerning the possibility of facing Britain’s David Haye in a unification fight in 2011.
The insults, accusations and blame as to why a Klitschko has not faced WBA champion Haye have dominated boxing forums and websites for the last six months and the negotiations are far from over. But one thing that both camps seem to agree on is the fight will happen in 2011-its just remains to be seen whether it will be against IBF and WBO champ Wladimir or WBC king Vitali.
Speaking to German newspaper Bild, earlier today the brothers issued a joint statement saying: “We promise that in 2011 the fight against Haye will come.
“We want this fight at all costs! He can choose which of us he wants to step into the ring against to lose his world title.”
In terms of a classic Haye vs a Klitschko brother will never make the all time heavyweight top 10 list and outside of the UK it does not mean a great deal but it is the only heavyweight match up at the moment of any remote interest and it must happen in 2011.
