Roger Mayweather has died at just 58 years old, but leaves behind an incredible legacy. Not only did the "Black Mamba" capture world titles at both super-feather and super-lightweight, but in his later career as a trainer played an instrumental role in moulding his nephew Floyd Mayweather into the finest boxer of his generation.

Following the sad news, social media was awash with glowing tributes and we include a selection of these below:

Nigel Collins
Really bummed to learn of the death of Roger Mayweather. He’s my favorite Mayweather, a real character who, win or lose, was always in a good fight. His fight with Harold Brazier was amazing.

WBC

Thank you for everything Black Mamba. Rest in Peace Roger Mayweather.

DAZN

and all the family.

Sorry to hear of the passing of my friend & two time world champion Roger Mayweather. The last couple of years he’s been in a bad way so at least now he is free from suffering. A great fighter with a huge heart. I learned a lot from being around him. #RIPRogerMayweather.
Sauerland Brothers
A legendary trainer, two-time World Champion and a top bloke. Rest in peace Roger Mayweather.
Max Kellerman
The original Black Mamba. Roger Mayweather won belts in two weight divisions. He was no joke at 130, 135, and 140lbs.
Michael Buffer
The BLACK MAMBA-a HELLUVA fighter! A multi division multi time WORLD CHAMPION..fought a load of great fighters & you don’t win 59 fights (35kos) unless your one of the best of your era! It was a pleasure to have intro’d him in the ring! R.I.P. CHAMPION.
Steve Kim
Unfortunately Roger Mayweather has passed away. Leonard Ellerbe confirmed to me a few minutes ago. The original ’Black Mamba’, who then became ’the Mexican Assassin’ was one of my favorite fighters of the 80s. RIP #boxing.
Julio Cesar Chavez Sr
An opponent in the ring, a great friend, coach and person outside of it. I regret the loss of one of boxing’s greats. I will always have him in my heart.
