Seconds Out is proud to present the Legends Award as this year’s British Boxing Board of Control Southern Area Annual Awards Official Media Partner.
The partnership marks the first time the prestigious event – which held its inaugural dinner in 2010 – has linked with a dedicated media outlet. Alongside the usual awards, including Boxer of the Year and Trainer of the Year, the Legends Award has now been introduced for 2025, allowing the public to vote on a winner from three short-listed nominees who truly embody British boxing excellence.
Southern Area Council member Ben Harmsworth, who is heading up the awards team, said:
“The collaboration with Seconds Out has taken this year’s event to a new level. For the first time, all the tickets have been sold out! The interaction with the Seconds Out audience has been quite remarkable and we are very excited to find out who their boxing fans will vote for from this year’s nominees of Chris Eubank Sr, Nigel Benn and Frank Bruno MBE given that the Southern Area is blessed to have had so many legendary names who have either held a license or fought within the Southern Area”
Place your vote below. The vote closes on Friday, 14 November and the winner will be announced at the Southern Area Annual Awards 2025 on 16 November. This year’s nominees are:
Chris Eubank Sr
Renowned for his distinctive persona and technical ability, Chris Eubank Sr remains a defining figure in British sport. His rivalries and disciplined style elevated the sport’s profile during the early 1990s.
Nigel Benn
‘The Dark Destroyer’ Nigel Benn earned enduring respect through his ferocious fighting spirit and willingness to face the toughest opponents of his time. His bouts, particularly against Eubank, stand as milestones in British boxing history.
Frank Bruno
Frank Bruno’s powerful presence and perseverance made him one of Britain’s most beloved heavyweights. His eventual world title victory symbolised resilience – something he has continued to embody through his work with mental health awareness – and national pride.
