Adonis Stevenson, an 11th round tko loser to Oleksandr Gvozdyk in Quebec, Canada on Saturday night, is currently in a critical condition and in intensive care following his WBC light heavyweight title defence.
The 41 year-old left the ring under his own steam but was originally taken to hospital as a precaution prior to falling ill.
Stevenson’s family and promoter Yvon Michel are said to be at his side and made the announcement.
Michel released a statement saying: “They(family) want to inform friends and supporters Adonis is currently in critical condition in intensive care, at the hospital, following his fight against Oleksander Gvozdyk.
“They appreciate the concern and support of everyone.
“There will be no further comments at this time and they respectfully request your understand in their desire to stay private.”
