Dave Allen has revealed he would be keen to challenge a former heavyweight world title holder, and it just might happen.
Allen has made a triumphant return to the scene in the last year or so. The Doncaster man had many tough fights early in his career and lost against the likes of Tony Yoka, Luis Ortiz, David Price and Dillian Whyte, but beat Lucas Browne and Nick Webb before taking time away to fight on small hall shows.
He came back against the young prospect Johnny Fisher in December 2024 and lost a controversial split decision, then stopped ‘The Romford Bull’ in May to revive his career at the age of 33.
Speaking on his own YouTube channel, Allen revealed he has had an approach from former WBO world heavyweight champion Joseph Parker for a future fight.
“So yeah, we have been approached for a fight to see if I was interested in boxing Joseph Parker. Obviously I said yes, absolutely, I think he’s a fantastic fighter, one of my favourites, a personal favourite of mine. I think he’s brilliant.
“I remember watching him fight Andy Ruiz for the world title. They’ve asked if I have any interest so I said to [Eddie Hearn] as much as I would like to win the British title a fight with someone of Joseph Parker’s ability, name, and stature, for a proper title would be life changing and life-affirming I think as well. I could die a happy man if I boxed for a big title against someone like that.”
Parker is on a roll himself, having beaten Zhilei Zhang, Deontay Wilder and Martin Bakole in his last three, so is well ranked with the WBO and likely due a world title shot soon, but a battle with Allen may appeal to him.
