Dave Allen is a hugely popular heavyweight who put on a superb performance last time out.

‘The White Rhino’ has always thrown himself into the deep end. Early on in his career, he fought the likes of Dillian Whyte, Luis Ortiz and Tony Yoka, and has had career best wins against Lucas Browne, Nick Webb and Johnny Fisher.

He fought Fisher twice, lost controversially in the first fight then got an impressive knockout in the rematch to set up a fight with Arslanbek Makhmudov.

Makhmudov is a towering Russian who has only lost to Agit Kabayel and Guido Vianello, and he threw a huge amount of punches against Allen who employed a front foot strategy to try and grind down his opponent and soak up his best shots while landing big right hands of his own.

Allen came up short after 12 rounds but once again won plenty of plaudits for his efforts, and has now revealed his future plans.

Speaking to iFL TV, the fan-favourite heavyweight set his sights on a huge target.

“I’d rather box someone really good again really, why not. We only live once don’t we?”

Former Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua victim Otto Wallin was then suggested.

“Not really, someone proper again really. Someone better than that I think. Better than [Joe Joyce]. Zhang maybe, what about Zhilei Zhang.”

Zhang has not fought since he was beaten by KO by Agit Kabayel and before that stopped Deontay Wilder inside five rounds. He is now 42-years-old but continues to call out the likes of Anthony Joshua, and it could be an interesting battle against Allen.
