Dave Allen has his sights set on the scariest fight possible for himself this year.
Allen has never been picky about his opponents. Early on in his career, he was often thrown in the deep end with the likes of Luis Ortiz, Dillian Whyte and David Price.
He secured big wins over the likes of Nick Webb and Lucas Browne and last time out, he took on the giant Russian Arslanbek Makhmudov.
Allen boxed well and put him under plenty of pressure early on, but eventually Makhmudov got a hold of the fight and ran out a points winner, which has earned him a fight with Tyson Fury in April.
Speaking to First Round TV, ‘The White Rhino’ was asked for his ideal next opponent.
“I think it’s going to be Zhilei Zhang. Yeah, I think Zhilei Zhang and me is going to happen yeah. We’ve already spoke about it. I’m happy to do it as well, I’m not bothered. I’ve never backed down from anyone in my life and I aren’t going to start with him. I’m here to have a go, all I want to do is entertain everyone.”
He then gave his prediction for how the fight would play out.
“If I box Zhieli Zhang, one or two things will happen – I’ll get flattened for the first time or he’ll be knackered after the first three rounds and I’ll beat him on points.”
Zhang is now 42 years old and has previously lost to Agit Kabayel but has knocked out Deontay Wilder, so he still presents a big test for Allen.
